As many of you know Alex and Lianne are involved with a ministry called Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). Alex has been the director of CEF of Northern Maine for over 2 years, overseeing the ministries that CEF has in the Aroostook County area. This page explains what we do through this ministry and how it is accomplished.

Our mission is to reach children with the Gospel of Jesus-Christ. Many organizations and groups are concerned with the "wellbeing" of children, whether educational, physical, mental etc. We are concerned with the spiritual wellbeing of children. We feel that it is important that children have the correct view of God, and using the following ministries we attempt to teach them.

The ministry of CEF in Northern Maine can be broken down into 5 major ministries:

Good News Clubs: These are weekly or monthly clubs lasting most of the school year, where two or more individuals host and teach a 1-2 hour "class" including Bible lessons, songs, verse memorization, review games and more. These clubs can be held in a Home, Church or school and could be organized by a church group or one individual. Last year there were 9 of these clubs in Aroostook County.

Mailbox Club: These are Bible based lessons that help children study God's Word and when completed can be sent out to an address for correction. Once the lesson is corrected the children will receive a new lesson by mail.

5-Day Clubs: These are clubs held primarily in the summer months and only last for five consecutive days usually Monday through Friday. Like a Good News Club these could be held in a Church, Home or School and are approximately 90 minutes long.

Fair Ministries: There are numerous fairs and town celebrations across Aroostook County. CEF is involved each year with several of them such as the Potato Blossom Festival, Northern Maine Fair and Houlton Fair. Here we bring a booth to the event and offer face painting with the Gospel colors and a Bible Story told through various methods. We attend 6 events throughout the summer. This ministry also allows many Christian individuals a chance to serve the Lord and be involved with the work. Thanks to many individuals this ministry reaches hundreds of children each summer.

Day Camps: There are 2 day camps in Aroostook County, one in Mars Hill and the other in Eagle Lake. Each camp runs for one week per summer where children come for 5 days, Monday through Friday, for a 6 hour day of games, swimming, Bible stories, songs, hiking etc. These also involve many people giving their time to be counselors, directors, committee members, and many other volunteers.

Prayer Requests
